Teaching appropriate student behavior is an important part of the educational program of Westview School. The safety of all students and staff is a primary consideration, and students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that ensures the safety of all students and staff. Students, staff, and parents are expected to behave in a manner that is respectful. Respect for others and respect for property are continuing themes, and the staff supports students to develop self-control and independence in managing their own behavior. All District 7 Schools also integrate lessons about the Illinois Social Emotional Learning Standards.
Teaching Matters:
At Westview Elementary School, we believe in providing children with the best education possible. This can occur only when students, parents, and staff work together so that self-discipline and independence is developed in each child. Self-discipline is developed by teaching expectations and following consistent, logical consequences to correct inappropriate behavior.
This philosophy is at the heart of being a responsive to the Social Emotional Learning needs of children.
